I am very wary these days when bidding on E Bay. Several times it has appeared that someone was pushing the price up and I have dropped out. Hard to prove, E Bay not very proactive and then even when they agree it has happened they have only given a warning.

They are the clipper type, I'm surprised the bidding has got that high! There was a pair of original bullet/twins ones on last week that went for a more sensible £70! I've often thought there must be enough demand for our hosts to make some repro ones as the Indian versions are very poor.

I think Hitchcocks did get some made but the quality was difficult to achieve. The Clipper type (removable Crown in the centre, same as very early Indian production which had the Indian Congress logo in it's place,) seem to go for even more money than the Bullet/Twin type. I have 2 left Clipper ones. Can I find a right one and make my fortune?!

Many years ago, a work colleague had some tank badges made entirely in house for his Francis Barnett.
Perfect in every way and undetectable from the originals. Perfect that is until when they went back into the art department for final finishing and the head of dept. decided to make them 'extra' special by replacing the FB with the blokes initials. So if there's still a green Fanny Plover out there with 'MO' on the tank badges, at least now you know why.

I have similar experience with ebay bidding.. i was bidding for haynes suzuki ts manual last week. the seller had listed two of them.
last few mins one bidder start bidding .. price went till £7 . then i stop i said let him win..one try to be clever
start bidding to for his other item. someone outbid me in last few seconds. seems more like seller was bidding from his other account.
it was not that hot item either and people will go crazy for it.
i think someone can have more than one account , they can play around. just a guess.

Hi Guys-------alas it's an old practice that has its' roots in real-time Auctions going back down the years.....With "Electronic Distance Selling" (which is basically what E-Bay et al is all about) ....it just becomes that much more difficult to detect.....The basic rule for buyers still holds water though}----Decide on your max. bid then SIT ON YOUR HANDS !!!.............There is also a thing called a "Snipe" bid...have a look at this}-----
