Bullet rear light

Hi there. I have a 2008 bullet 65 , the problem is the rear light when I put the brakes on the rear light goes out(brake light works and rear light but not together) I have cleaned all block connector's changed the bulb, the main earth seems clean.is there another earth ?,any ideas as the M o t is due . thanks

Check the wiring that goes inside the rear mudguard. It's the usual suspect with tear like light problems.

if it is the double filament bulb, are you sure its the right way round in its socket?

The double filament bulb is a pain as when I screw it in one way the brake light works but not with the rear light I try it another way both lights are on ?. Getting a bit confused.

The pins on each side of the bulb should be at slightly different heights to each other, so check carefully they correspond with what they fit into..... These slots should also be at appropriately different heights. -C

I had the same problem with the twin-filament rear light on an Italian bike (I was very surprised that an Italian bike would have electrical troubles...) and it was indeed the earth connection onto the rear mudguard that caused it.
