As I'm 44 today the family said you can do what ever you want it's your day. Perfect, I thought up and out at 8am on the newly acquired 2005 electra X , a couple of hours of back lanes , country roads , and B roads around north Herts , then a cooked breakfast and then a ice cream in the market square in Hitchin , then more miles on the bike roads.

It don't get much better than that and knowing I'm not gonna get moaned at for being out so long on my return home.

Happy birthday. As long as you remember to walk the dog and tidy the shed when you get back you should be OK :-). Reminds me of a joke... A guy comes home from work to a note from his wife. Note says " happy birthday your present is upstairs on the bed". He goes upstairs to find his wife naked on the bed with some bondage stuff she has bought. She says "happy birthday. You can do whatever you want with me". So he ties her up, gags her. Goes downstairs, watches the match on TV then goes out for a ride on his bike. Sorry it's an old one.

I'm surprised our paths didn't cross yesterday. I went from Stevenage to Cottered and the curvy A507 towards Buntingford, down the A10 to the A602, through Watton and up to Datchworth, back to Stevenage for a swim at the gym, then back to Knebworth, up the Codicote road to Hitchin and home via St.Ippolytes. A great day doffing around the local countryside, and the Bullet loved it.
