Neutral finder and neutral from first gear.(I just have to go try this on Kevin first...)

Yes, it works! Ok, I was reading David Blasco's
Royal Enfield blog, where he imparted a piece of knowledge that was totally unknown to me. You can use the neutral finder on the four speed gearbox, to go to neutral from first gear! You simply keep your heel on the neutral finder lever and press your toe down on the gear lever. The gear lever moves until it is stopped by the neutral lever and hey presto... you are in neutral.

Kevin had a very clicky gearbox, and it is no problem just to gently press the gear lever to go from first to neutral (Yes, really!) but I will have to wait to try on Tornado, as the Indian 4 speed box has no clickyness to it and if it works, then this would be very useful indeed.

Go try it! For those of us lucky enough to have a centre stand that allows the back wheel to clear the ground... Don't bother starting the bike, just turn the back wheel, click into first, then holding the neutral lever down, press the gear lever as far towards second as the neutral lever will allow it to go (whilst turning the wheel). Are you in neutral?

Or, as I have been doing for many years, [when it has been necessary], just hook the neutral finder lever up first with the back of your boot and then press it down to get neutral from first.

Hi Scaly, This works well; I use it on both my 500cc Bullets from 2000 and 2007. Easy and useful for anyone who wants to give it a go. -Chris
