Well my Electra x is going to its new owner today. So I contacted Devitts to change bikes, and not surprising thty cant find the Himalayan on the database. I now have to wait until tomorrow to sort insurance out. I would have thought in this day and age the would have some knowledge of new bikes.

It is the lack of volume sales that makes a quote difficult.

The quote on my Electra X (ish) dropped by £100 when my insurance company realised it was only 22BHP.

Bennetts refuse to acknowledge the existence of my 1954 Triumph Tiger 100; it can't exist because the computer says no. Similar bike appears in current Carole Nash advert. Also, I had problems with my C5 LE Despatch; my then insurer only listed the standard C5. One wonders what the process actually is for adding vehicles as they are launched...

I get the same problems with my 500 Lightning. The 535 is recognised, but the 500 isn't. According to the price comparison sites. My Registration plate doesn't exist.

Bennetts are no good for classic insurance. Spent ages on the web site then phoned them only to find out that they do not do agreed valuations

Well Im still waiting for a reply from Devitts.I decided to try. Bikesure.... They came back with a quote of £250 with a £500 xs. Me thinks I will be shopping around a bit more. Last year I paid £180 for 3 bikes

I don't think any of our bikes no have an excess on the insurance. One of the few benefits of being old and decrepit.

They make their own rules. I have a 500 classic 2010/direct Indian import. DVLA won't accept the year of manufacture so it is on a Q plate. Insurance will only do 3rd party and said its because they can't value Q plates. Tried several other insurers who wouldnt even quote think I need to explore ways to get it off the Q plate
