That's my 2017 Bullet now run in, Only one small problem at 500 miles, it developed poor tick over and hesitation on opening the throttle, This was cured by my dealer putting in a lower grade spark plug, and this cured the problem, The thinking was that with the bike being run in at 1/4 throttle openings the engine was not running hot enough to clean spark plug tip so spark plug fouling up. However after some investigation and trials it was found to be the spark plug cap at fault, so with a new NGK cap fitted all is well on its 8 grade plug,(if you think RE India used cheap plug caps in the past well they seem to have found an even cheaper one to use?. the only other problem is the rear brake lever loose on its mounting causing a slight rattle at times. The Abs brakes are proving to be very good with braking around corners possible with no sign of wheel lock, so to an old school biker who learned to ride bikes with drum brakes (or should they be called no brakes?), this inspires confidence. Once the bike gets over 60 mph in 5 gear you feel you want another gear so an extra tooth on the front sprocket is in order and with a bolt on sprocket on the rear there is room to play with the rear size as well, So when we change the front sprocket the back brake lever will be sorted and all will be well. This bike was a replacement for my 2009 bullet Electra Efi and the 2017 bullet Efi is a major improvement on this machine in all areas, I assume that maybe Harris performance have been busy improving these machines, So to sum up I am very pleased with this machine well worth the £3999 price.

Run in at 500 miles? Add another 2500/3000 miles to that. It is a Royal Enfield not a Honda.

My reading of the original post was that the 500 miles figure was the point DURING THE RUNNING IN PROCESS at which point the spark plug problem manifested and was cured by the dealer. That does rather suggest that hagis has put a few more miles on it since, does it not, Papasmurf?

Glad the Euro 4/ABS models are proving good bikes...

Just as a point of interest the hand book tells you to do 35-45 mph for the first 300 miles, 40-50mph up to 600 miles, and after 600 and beyond avoid prolonged full throttle operation, and vary speed occasionally. I have run the bike in over 1,000 miles and it will be very unlikely to be operated at full throttle ever, With modern machining methods and synthetic oil there does not seem to be the need for long running in periods.
