Warning: Totally off topic and only slightly Royal Enfield related. Stop reading here if you don't like that! .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

I am a member of NVMC, Norwegian Veteran Motorcycle Club. The main event each year is "Skogsløpet", i.e. "The forest run". Don't ask me about that name, it has nothing to do with forest at all. This year, as last year, it is taking place in a small place called Folldal, 700 m above sea level. The highest point of the "track"(?) is above 1100 m. Definitely no forest up there, I can assure you! Folldal is one of the dryest places in Norway, according to the statistics. I am not so shure about that .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

Here comes the Enfield part: Last year I did the trip on my 1953 Model G. 840 km in total, thereof 740 km to and from the place. Not a single misfire, everything went well. A very nice trip indeed. Except for some rain. More or less rain all the way home, that is....... .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

Now it's that time of the year again! Leaving home tomorrow morning, returning back home sunday evening. This year it is going to be more like "The rain forest run", according to the weather forecast. Continous rain from friday morning to sunday evening! But as a former boyscout I know that there is no such thing as bad weather, only poor equipment. So I am bringing my sleeping bag and a small tent, and looking forward to every minute of it. .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

I must admit that I ride my 1956 BMW R50 this year, with a PAv 41 trailer (google it if you don't know what it is, it's really a handy little trailer!). Will be back with a report when I'm home and my computer is cooperative (some trouble the last week). Sooner or later I will find a convenient way of sharing pictures on the net. Flickr, maybe. So I can show you my Model G etc. etc. and "prove" that I am real. .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

Sorry for taking up your time with non-RE stuff. Have a nice weekend! .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

.... Folldal, a cold place!

I just have to add this about Folldal, to show that we are really tough people here in Norway, closely related to the vikings: .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

In January 2010 the lowest temperature in Folldal was -45,6 degrees C. New year's day in 1979 the lowest temperature was -52 degrees C! Unfortunately not an official measurement, but if it was it would have been the coldest ever in Norway. -52 is almost unbelievably cold! Still, more that 1500 people are living there!.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

I am glad I am not going there on a motorcycle in January! .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
