Why the secret squirrel approach to this web site, i am not an owner but would have been interested in reading up about the KX, please can someone enlighten me as i cannot think of any reason why a web site about a bike should be restricted ?... Thanks in advance.

I agree Bertie, I'm not an owner but would also like to read about this model as well as other Enfields. Appears rather elitist, maybe they'll enlighten us.

I met one of the UK founders of this site and he was a bit up himself to be honest. On the other hand we have 2 members and owners of KXs in our REOC branch and they are very nice chaps so I suspect it comes from the top. I understand some reticence about sharing engine and frame numbers but that could be kept secure and leave the rest of it available to the rest of us. It might help identify parts and encourage owners but presumably they like it as it is! Incidentally the lads tell me total numbers of K and KX production was very low and there are a good few survivors, our boys have 4 between them!

PLUS. there are secret and hidden things even on the REOC site. I just found a page where you can order discounted tickets for the 2013 bike show!

Oh dear have they taken offence. now the whole site seems to have gone secret?

Apologies for monopolising the site today!
As a KX owner myself, I have full access to this site. I can understand the frustration of interested parties not being able to access any aspect of the site. There ARE reasons why some of the info is needing protection, such as registers of machine/owner details, but by no means all of the content needs hiding. In fact, if some access was available, it could help to create a future demand for these bikes (I'm getting on a bit, and I don't want the bike to be incinerated with me)! Vintage Keith, can I offer your bike a good home? Not immediately obviously, when you're ready old chap! I can't actually afford to offer anything in the way of financial recompense, but I would promise to love and cherish it, honest! My Dad had one, attached to a Busmar double adult sidecar, he passed his test on a 125 Bantam in the morning and bought the Enfield that afternoon. The story goes that he put it through a hedge on the test ride and bent the forks, so he had to buy it, but then he couldn't afford to repair the forks so he just rode with them bent. Must have been "interesting". Sadly, when I was born he sold it and bought a 197cc Bond Minicar so I've only ever seen photos of what should rightfully have been my inheritance. Doesn't it make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside to know that you could right this grave injustice?
