A very important message that everybody should see.
It says it like it is unfortunatly

When I drove taxis and the phone rang, I let it ring out, and rang back when I stopped somewhere and the fare alighted. Not like the Indian drivers today, who have earphones on, constantly chatting to someone.

Some truth in it but a life saver over the shoulder look can take 2 seconds so are you going to give them up?

Er, no. A lifesaver is designed to save life. Other distractions like opening sandwiches or phone messages are not. I can't think or anybody in the biker community who agrees with people using handheld phones whilst driving.
I'm not sure my lifesaver takes two seconds? I just glance before changing lane or turning, takes probably just under 1 second?

Personally people who use a mobile phone whilst driving should be summarily executed at the roadside.
Doing a safety check glance on a motorcycle really is a life saver. Also why do motorcycle manufacturers insist on fitting mirrors that just give you a clear view of your shoulders. Standard mirrors are never wide enough set....
I have mirror extenders and risers fitted to my Electra X(ish) and the only rearward blind spot is the eleven feet behind the number plate. Even that did not stop a local idiot of a motorcyclist old enough to know better getting into that eleven feet blind on section of very narrow and multi-cornered road.

get a stopwatch out and take a good look behind you not just alongside and time from looking ahead to returning to looking ahead

Do that, and you are definitely coming off!
Anyway, I know my glance is about 3/4 of a second.
Two seconds is more like.. glance... think of something..still looking, think of something, wait, return head.
Valsp, if you do have that stopwatch handy, then go see the vid below. I am guessing half a sec.
