As the long winter approaches I am thinking of next years adventure.
My plan is to travel from england to aushwitz overland via Holland avoiding motorways on my recently acquired classic 500. Has anyone done this. I have a route in mind but any ideas of places to visit on route would be appreciated
Thanks in advance
Andy

Have been there a couple of times, not on an Enfield though.

You can pass through a multitude of places worth seeing, Arnhem and surrounding area, Hartz mountains area, Colditz, Dresden, Czech republic anywhere is great. in Poland we stayed in Cracow which also has an amazing history. Oswiecim (Auschwitz) will take you whole day for camps one and two.

Peenemunde where the V1s and the Me-163 were developed is about 8 hours ride to the North of Auschwitz (Oświęcim)

Auschwitz via Holland. That's a bit vague. There is a huge chunk of Europe between those two places. Have you no idea of your route yet? Berlin might be a good stop...

Hi Andy - no idea how much touring you have done but my approach these days is to put a route into aa route planner where i want to end up, add in the avoid motorways function and see what sort of mileage we are looking at. Then work out how many miles a day you want to do and how much time you have. Realistically on a bullet how many miles a day are feasible without turning a trip into a feat of endurance - i doubt it is much more than 200 a day if you want to enjoy the scenery and stop and visit sites on route. Let us know if you go, there is a distinct lack of touring tales on this site.

Hi that's exactly what I have done with a routplanner. 200-250 miles a day should be achievable allowing for detours. Some B&B and some camping. Spent 3weeks mooching around India by train last year. ( that's how I came to buy an Enfield) so fancy another challenge. Hoping to get some ideas of places to visit in Germany and Poland or interesting roads that go in the general direction I want.
