Insurance companies need sorting out, I'm sure that quotes are pulled out of a hat. I specifically joined the REOC last year to get a 'competitive club quote' only to find it was far more expensive then my current insurer. Grund, have a look at the Money Saving Expert site for some useful tips and guidance.

My renewal just in from Just Motorcycle Insurance (part of carole nash group, I got the lead originally through Confused.com) - £64.93 TPFT - less than last year, I guess because I have now got 1 years no claims. I haven't checked any others yet, but sounds OK to me.

I've used Bennetts the last couple of years. They've just quoted me £68 fully comp for my due-to-arrive-any-day-now '63 Triumph Tiger 90. I'm not even going to bother trying to beat that.

For me, insurance is a real irritation. I can go to the likes of meerkatsupermarket.com, punch in my numberplate and it always back as "Invalid"! Yet, I can check the DVLA website and it comes back as 'hunky-dory'. Further investigation showed that insurance companies link the registration number with the model of bike. According to insurance companies, the 500 Lightning doesn't exist.

Hi guys----- Give PETER JAMES INSURANCE a go----------but they ALL have now cottoned-on to this shark behaviour of charging an "Admin fee, Sir" each time you want to add a new machine on to your list. Usually about £30 or so.

---------- no matey, it won't be until later on you try and add another machine. Here's a thought}---If as they say the "Admin Fee" ( for example let's call it £30 ) is to research a bike or bikes new to them----then surely when you first go to that Broker the first quote they give you must have that element included in it--right ?? Because they will have researched your machine or machines that are new to them. So therefore 12 months later the quote for the next year---asssuming all is still the same--- will now NOT have that £30 in it because there was NO RESEARCH to do !! Doesn't happen though, does it ?? Rip-off Britain, alive and well !!
