Can you please keep an eye out for anything, the bikes themselves or unusually cheap parts being offered. I can be emailed at

My guess it's the local scrotes in the neighbouring sink estate, so I'm pretty much expecting to have the police call and let me know they've found them burnt out somewhere.

Update - unfortunately I had a call from the police this evening, as I'd predicted the Enfield was found a burnt out wreck on the neighbouring estate. No sign of the YBR, but it doesn't bode well.

Sorry to hear the outcome, I'm currently in talks with the police regarding the attempted but unsuccesful theft of mine today: wires cut but not the security chain.
A pity we're not all there together when one of these guys is trying it on. Etc. OK, taking my tranquillisers now and off to bed....

Given a few days ago, a man was murdered trying to stop a moped being stolen I would counsel against any kind of vigilante action.
I should also point out that once you have had something stolen from your property it is likely to happen again.
Also in most cases the thieves know you, and or you know them. (Know does not mean know to talk to but the are probably in the vicinity of your property on a regular basis.
(A police crime prevention officer should make victims aware of this in an ideal world but they don't in all cases.)

A mate of mine once had his Kawasaki 175 Trail bike nicked after some scrotes sawed through his Yamaha 1000 EXUP front wheel to get the security chain off - they were chained together..... Lowlifes also took the side of his prefab shed off with an angle-grinder to get at the bikes.
This was at his parents house & they heard nothing!
Anyway he heard 'through the grapevine' who had taken his bike (& wrecked the other!) so he went to see them with a few of his mates. He was just about to remove a tender part of this young b@st@rds anatomy with some tin-snips when plod arrived & arrested HIM! The case was thrown out of court eventually but still......

Somebody stole a Hellectra? Result, you can buy a bike with the insurance money. I must admit this won't give the same satisfaction as the tealeaf signing the confession with his (as yet) unbroken other arm...

Horrible feeling having your bike nicked. I have had 3 stolen over the years including a mz250 with 80,000 on the clock - could not believe anyone would take that one. My last one to go was an xt600 tenere and I was gutted. However I bought a brand new 350 bullet with the insurance money so every cloud...

Not much consolation, but is the burn-out bike restorable? You might be able to buy it back from the insurance company fairly cheap.
