I'm just about to buy a pillion seat for my 2012 classic 500 EFI and bought throw over panniers from Hitchcocks three years ago. What's the best way of fitting the panniers( each has two horizontal clip straps)? Are there frame add-ons? Can't see any on the site for classic. Some of the Indian luggage frame photos online look better than those available here.

I've never managed to find a wholly satisfactory solution to this; I would have thought that by now, seven years after introduction there would be pannier rails that would fit the C5. I'm quite tempted by the new hard panniers, though they are a bit expensive. Anyway, what I did with my throwover (el cheapo variety I've had kicking about for years) was to remove the pillion seat (my LE Despatach came with one from the factory) and then pass the straps underneath the seat and re-fit it. To keep the panniers off the frame I used that grey foam pipe lagging, cut to suitable lengths and fitted to the mudguard stays. Cheap and cheerful, though it does actually work quite well and it is easy to convert it back when not in use. As my bike is camouflaged and has a black engine and exhaust I treated it from new with ACF50 as on this particular bike I don't want it to look shiny and new, but more like a used ex WD bike. My solution might not suit if you are a spit and polisher (as I am with my other bikes). Hope this helps, otherwise India might be your best bet.
