Reds, I don't know of anyone in your area but there are 2 possibilities, I found that the guys who do canal boats still do traditional sign writing so that might be a possible search and second, the VMCC Transfer Scheme do number plate letters in stick-on vinyl that have a nice rounded edge to look like they've been hand painted.

Rod Gazeley signs Maulden. Brilliant work. 10? Miles from you.
Google him for number or I have it at work.

I forget what the actual year is, but after that year the number plates have to be the reflective type, not the old black and white/silver, just in case your bike is fairly recently registered and you were thinking of using the old type plates.

Well, judging by some of the farm tractors I saw as a kid, you should be looking for a five year old child with a toilet brush

Hi Nettshubby, reflective plates became compulsory 1st January '73. I went the other way, so to speak, and fitted a reflective plate to my '61 Panther, perfectly legal and I would rather be seen than be 'original'. Adam

Hi Adam, thanks for reminder. I thought it was a lot later than that, but tempus fuzzy as they say! I think the same way regarding indicators, I fitted a set to my 1957 BMW R50 many years ago.

Hi Reds I am in Cambs and a mate also in this area had his 56 Ford van sign written by a chap from I think Huntingdon , if you can wait until later next week I will get his details and forward them to you, with reference to the other threads on number plates the rules have now changed and vehicles in the "Historic" taxation class can now display the non retro reflective number plates ie Silver letters/ numbers and or white letters & numbers on a black background.
Regards

I've used London House Signs in Brampton near Huntingdon, I know he's a bit of a trek from you. He's on the high street just behind a gift shop, on the opposite side of the road and just down from the post office. Excellent workmanship and very good prices but he can be a little slow (4-6 weeks) but this wasn't a problem for me.
