I collected my brand new Marsh Grey B5 from Jones and Alcock in Stafford yesterday morning. Bit of a problem on the way home . . . crossing the A51 it gave a cough, a backfire and died and only with the quick reactions of the driver of the yellow 44t DHL truck (thanks mate!) I managed to paddle across to the kerb. Got it started again but the MIL light was on permanently in 'limp' mode (I know all about that at my age!) so we performed an about turn and back to Stafford. J&A very kindly lent me a Fiat Punto to get home and mid-afternoon I got a txt to say it was all ready for me. Turned out it was a faulty fuel pump relay. When I got there Jim Wilson was on the 'phone to MotoGB making the warranty claim for the faulty relay. When he came off the 'phone he was spluttering with rage . . . "They want me to take a 'photo of the switch, what on earth can they possibly see from a 'photo of a fcuking switch??". The rigamarole that the Dealers are forced to go through for any warranty claim is so complicated and convoluted that he's not going to bother for 1/2 hr of labour and a £5 part. Such is life under MotoGB.

Crazy, I made a claim on my Versys for an oil light pressure switch which in it self showed nothing, but they had to take a photo, It could have been any switch on any bike at close up, but no photo no claim. I know how you feel.

Which is exactly WHY the rigmarole is so complicated and convoluted.... So they won't 'bother' anybody. Apparently, it works.

The warranty expired on mine about six years before I was born, can't seem to find the MIL light on the SR1 though.

You just inform Moto Grabbing Bastards, that the obtaining, and use of a digital camera, along with file transfer time and computer costs will be about £20 per photo, added to the claim. If you are really remote, you can add film stock and development time as well.

Don't mention MotoGB, I've been fighting for months to get a new fuel tank. Only after loads of banging their heads did they agree to replace it. They conveniently forgot my claim for a new wheel rim too, which I claimed for a year ago. So, when my rear wheel bearings collapsed at 1800 miles and the rectifier bracket snapped I just fixed them myself. I love the bike but not the poor quality or warranty claim procedure.

For a failed sprag on my EFi they allowed 30 mins and £20 for labour. I paid the difference. Then the petrol tank split....

There is a reset procedure but I'm having a senior, ah yes - switch off, switch on key and kill switch wait >10 sec, open throttle 100% for >10 sec, release throttle to 0%, after ~5 sec MIL will "blink continuously twice" (meaning unclear?), reset completes, switch off, wait ~3 sec, then start engine. When mine cut out on rdb due to clutch/brake/swerve for an emergency BMW avoidance and over revved, I just switched off, removed key and waited 30 seconds.
That won't cure a faulty relay but I've found a lot of the time a loose connection to things is more likely; if a bulb blows in the MIL it can take out the fuse etc. It's always worth having a poke around in the electrics box when stuff happens.
Nigel, I thought you had a CGT?

At first service I'd had a few bits 'n bobs fall off which Hayballs Salisbury just replaced 'under warranty' no arguments, no questions. Reassembled with Loctite too. First claim always the dealership, it's in their best business interest to assist you, let them handle and swear at MotoGB. The dealers should have enough clout to escalate matters; incompetence may work in India but it won't fly here. Send the twit a photo of a black relay box?
