Upload to Photobucket, grab html code and paste here. That's one way anyway.

I had this problem when I first started. Keeping it simple. Sign in to Photobucket, it`s free. Then.
1-click on Upload, it will be in the menu along the top, or in a box with` Click to upload` in it. Your pictures album will appear.
2-Select the picture you want. Click on the small box-top right on the picture. It will turn blue with a tick in it.
3-Click `Open` in the box, lower right, it will show file name and upload to Photobucket.
4-Click the box with the tick in it, it will turn blue.
5-Click on `Link `lower-left.
6-Click on the HTML menu, it will turn Amber and show Copied.
Then come here and right- click Paste.
It might be helpful to some instructions in the menu on the left, perhaps below the Photo Gallery.
I am using Windows10, so the procedure might vary a bit.

If you don't use Tinypic or Photobucket you have to write a bit of HTML code as given in Exile's LINK

by way of testing and third attempt today from Flickr

@ Jefrs.. it won't work if you try to hot link from a secure website.. the trick is in the URL, it's a "https" page. It needs to be http only, (no "S")

Your method is OK but you need to be aware of the address... I fiddled with it to get this.. Hope this is the picture you wanted to show..

Thanks Exile that's the pic but the object of the test was to discover how to do it, not show the pic as such. I understand the "S" but Flickr provides a paragraph of garbage (share "Embed" or "BBS Code"). I'm trying to figure out how much of it I need to chop out. I cannot see the code that I posted, evidently you can because you fixed it. How did you do that and what did you do? - yes I read your LINK. I'm using Firefox but have the usual suspect browsers available. I've done this before and it worked but seem to be having a senior moment. Was it just the "S"?

Jefrs, you can usually see the code to any image or link (even a broken one) if you "right-click / properties"
