According to the (India) Economic Times:



Royal Enfield is adding muscles to its motorcycles to play in markets where the Harley-Davidsons and Triumphs rule since the Bullet-maker's current product line won't pass beyond the featherweight category.


Royal Enfield's R&D centre in the UK is developing a 600-650cc twin-cylinder motorcycle, designed to serve cruiser riders of the US and Europe, people in the know said. The bike is likely to be launched next year.

There's pics on YouTube from Jan2016 of a 600cc twin and a redesigned export Thunderbird for 2017. Both look like the C5, the Thunderbird more cruiser -like. Rumour of a 600cc Bullet/Classic.

Do note that the linky is from India where they like drawing designs they would like RE to make rather than designs RE are actually making. It could be stuff and nonsense.



There are maybe well founded rumours of a twin in the offing, but a step up to only 600cc make no sense to me.

I would expect the larger twin development is being handled by the UK team. Those designs do not look like the work of the former product manager from Triumph and the work of Terblanche of Ducati fame. They are no mugs at Royal Enfield and I will be surprised if they don't come up with the goods for the larger twin that needs to appeal to the states and uk (and others). No doubt whatever they do some moaners will be upset about the ABS and EFI that the bikes will inevitably have.
