This e. petition is to make motorcycle related questions compulsory in the car driving test. We've all had near misses or accidents where car drivers have n't seen us, have n't been looking for us or have n't even aware of how vulnerable we are. The vision problem isn't helped by the big A pillars in cars needed to meet strength tests. - I would prefer if car drivers had to pass a CBT before moving on to car tuition. - Also to make a re-test compulsory for anyone losing their licence due to points or being banned.

Why, in this day and age of "Information" is the subject of roadcraft STILL not taught in schools at any level ?? ---------------"Jack-the-lad" & his "Gobby"( I'm using extreme examples here) girlfriend can get a provisional licence without any experience OR basic training-----use the parents Insurance----and Hey-Presto !!! another car-load of drunk youngsters ploughs into a tree OR oncoming vehicle. And the real shame and scandal of this situation is that it's NO DIFFERENT from when you & I were at school....OR OUR PARENTS either!!! I'm not talking about the odd local effort by a Trendy council or two whose ideas don't stay the course but the implementation in ALL our schools of a COMPULSORY, basic syllabus alongside the "Reading, 'Rite-ing, 'Riff-matic" that we all get. I believe that some countries already have this type of thing in existence ??....As an incentive to the students,why not a voluntary exam paper taken in their last year, with the pass marks counting towards a discount with participating Insurance Companies and Vehicle manufacturers. After all, it has to be in EVERYONE'S interest to see the adults of to-morrow get a proper, co-ordinated grounding in how to behave in a motor-vehicle based society, even if only as pedestrians. Finally, as part of this "Grump-a-thon" I think that ALL licence holders should attend a compulsory skid-pan experience day, at least within 12 months of passing their test. Why wait for your first diesel or snow-skid on the M40 to be also your last ?? I rest my case, M'lud !!

While I agree with making motorists "motorcycle aware" the most worrying thing is the fact that there are probably thousands of drivers on the road who can hardly see anything! The only sight test they've ever undertaken is reading a numberplate when they took their driving test.As I know only too well,eyesight can deteriorate with age but unless you go blind overnight the only indication of the this is a pukka eye examination.It's all very well teaching people to be aware,making sure the vehicle is roadworthy etc. but if the pillock behind the wheel doesn't realise that they can't see as well as they could 30 years ago the rest is a waste of time!

most bike related accidents are due to the car driver not even looking so bike questions in the driving test are irrelivant,don,t look don,t see,its not just bikes its down to bad driving in general,i speak from first hand knowledge i nearly lost my life 2 years ago to a woman car driver who pulled straight out into me,i,m still living with accident related problems ,and still have not had my full payout also my leg is permenantly damaged,the worst excuse in the world is i didn,t see you,as the policeman said who attended my accident , i drive a rangerover with blue lights and police on the bodywork and people still pull out in front of me,so theres the answer don,t look don,t see especially while using mobile phones and sat navs ,theres my 2 penorth forget petitions buy a gun shoot the bas...... oh sorry time for my medication.
