Had a tax reminder through the post. They wanted £59 for 12 months for Tornado, my 500 bullet.

Went to the website and entered my 16 digit code from the renewal and the bloody thing wanted £60!

It does mention a £2-50 charge for credit cards, but mine is a debit, and no charge mentioned.

I just checked the tax tables on DVLA.GOV and it does say 401cc to 600cc = £60. Elsewhere it suggests that the rate went up from 5th April so maybe your reminder was printed on NOS paper!

Yes me to, I went to tax my electra and continental on 1st of April and found the reminder was incorrectly priced, and had to fork out a few more pounds, I seem to remember the chancellor put up tax rates in a previous budget so why were the reminders incorrect ?, some april fool joke maybe.

[center]I also have a 'Proper' RE for which the tax rate should be Zero, but I am wondering if I try online, if it will charge me a quid?

Hi Scalyback,
It is free, but ensure you use the official DVLA.gov site, I have done it a good few times.
Beware of similar looking sites, which WILL charge you for the service, About a month ago I mistakenly landed on one of the robber sites and they wanted to charge me 99p to SORN my wee 1966 Honda!
I thought, no, this isn't right, so abandoned the process and tried again, making sure it was the .gov site, very easy to get the wrong one as they look similar, be warned!!

Same for me as well. Never thought much of it at the time. But I'm going to check I did it on the right website and make sure I have taxed it!!
