Dump the centre stand and get an Indian stand kit. Keep the old one in case of selling the bike.

The redditch ones are crap and very hard to use. I got a very original bike, but no way I am going to use it with the cast centre stand.

To explain without a long tale of strife and displeasure, go to the forum post here... Worn Redditch centre stand

Forgot to add, your stand may not be worn, but here's video of my experiences. Hope it is helpful.

Hi thanks for the reply unfortunately this applies to all of the late 50's and sixties machines which had cast alloy centre stands the stand I am looking for is for the 1950 Model J2 Twin Port which is a cast iron very sturdy main stand which doesn't suffer from the same issues as the alloy one which wears away in 2 minutes flat.

I bought my J2 without a stand and I am looking for someone who wants to sell one, thanks.

Hello Sclayback, the J2 main stand is quite the same as the Co and the prewar models, and has nothing to do with central stands. Trev, I was on the site you suggested, and haven't found a rear stand for your model. Accessoirely, I need one too for my J2.... If you suplier has one, please let me know, I'll buy one too.

I have a solution, I have just acquired via EBay an original main stand for 1948 model G which is the same shape as the J2 but slightly narrower (and different part number) however as I am a bit of a fabricator I am copying the stand and reproducing the model G stand in the correct size for the J2. Anyone interested in one let me know.

Hello Skippytrev, I'm very interested by your proposition. For me, it won't be a problem to have a model G rear stand, as I have a model J front frame, and the rear part is model G....
