EFI Classic or Electra X EFI?

Last year I owned an Electra X on a 2010 plate and found after a short space of time that I was very disappointed with the build quality and reliability. I sold it on quite quickly. Once I looked into it on line it seemed I wasn't the only one and that these bikes were not as seemingly popular as the older classics 350 and 500s.

My question is, are the EFI Classics of 2010/2011 the same in terms of quality control and are they seen as generally less popular than older models?

To differentiate the classic from the Electra, I mean the single seated bike styled like the post war G2 (Classic) as oppose to the Electra EFI styled like the Bullet 65.

I'm presuming that in terms of the engine, they're the same? Perhaps you good people could enlighten me?

Thanks

Gary P

gary ,in my humble oppinion the best enfields have diesel engines fitted 2nd to that i think iron barrelled classics lean burn electras and all efi,s are good maybe you got a poor 1 or you were expecting too much from a budget bike over to someone else i know my oppinion is biased but i was at a rally at the weekend talking to a bloke with a brand new triumph tiger and he was very dissapointed by its finish too much cheap nasty plastic spoke nipples exhaust ,etc rusting all on a very new machine so make your mind up quality or not ,i know that build quality etc has also slipped on jap bikes lately also finish has always been an issue on yams &suzuki,s so if you want a good quality bike get ready to pay dollar for a bmw or harley, be seeing you.

Personally, if someone gave me a UCI / EFI Enfield I'd sell it for what ever I could get for it and go and buy whatever pre-unit classic bullet I could get for the money but preferably a 350. But of course the overly sensitive EFI owners here would n't agree.

I see that Eddie is on his soapbox again! Personally, if I don't rate a particular bike, I don't bitch about it, but we all get our pleasure in different ways. For what its worth, I have ridden over 10,000 miles on my EFI Woodsman all year round and in all conditions. It's still in reasonable condition and, yes, there have been a few minor niggles, but nothing too dramatic. The best thing to do Gary is to find a dealer, or owner, who will let you ride one. If you're not grinning within a mile, it's not the bike for you! You pays your money and you makes your choice and it only has to be right for YOU, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks - isn't that right Eddie?

I've done 2000 miles on my Classic EFI from new in October 2011. I know it's early but so far no sign of a problem in performance or build quality. I just wish this weather would improve so I could get out on it more often.
