Gordon is also an intrepid overland motorcyclist, not on bloated German "adventure bikes" but much more humble British machines. Just to echo Mark's comment, Gordon is a really nice guy - he came along to our local VMCC Section in Februay and gave us a talk on Overland to India on a 1954 350 Bullet. Very entertaining, and several of us bought his book with the same name. This trip is on a Matchless and he's having gearbox problems

Well worth a visit.
