This nuts programme was on Quest TV last night, (there are a couple of ads before the programme starts.)
Basically this man who is a socket short of a tool kit, bolts two iron barrelled 500 Bullet engines together to make a dune buggy.

I watched this. The guy is an absolute moron, he has little concept of how things should work. He repeatedly claimed that changing the exhaust and air filter will increase the engine power by 10bhp, he had the splines machined out of drive cogs, then seemed surprised when the small pin that he used sheared. What made me smile most was when the clutch failed, he cut the primary drive case in two, so that the primary drive chain could power then joint drive shaft, this meant that the clutch couldn't be run in oil, leading to a swift failure...... Even my wife looked when he said that the 500cc Engine is very rare. To be blunt, the programme very poor.

Shane, I was astounded at the mans lack of technical knowledge. To get rid of any vibration problems a parallel twin needs to have the equivalent of a 270 degree crankshaft arrangement. ( One such 270 degree crank fitted to an A10 BSA grass track sidecar revved to 9500 rpm reliably.)

He made a nice job of dumping oil all over the sand stone entrance, absolute retard.

I laughed when he kept on waffling about the "iconic cast iron block" while the picture zoomed in on the aluminium head. He seems to have never come across an air cooled engine before either.
Ah well... maybe he could get a job sorting out the emissions on Volkswagens.

Made me laugh! Let's face it this kind of programme isn't made for us but it still gave an impressive account of the Bullet motor which is good. I love the raygun exhausts, must be worth 2 bhp each?! And the cannons outside the Fort at the end were impressive!

hey 1950's, he's already had a go with VDubs, he built a boat with an old air-cooled beetle engine to ride some rapids somewhere. An equally unimpressive programme. Incidentally, surely the PAV system on older Bullets is/was also a pretty sneaky cheat to avoid failing emissions tests. After all, the engine still produced the same emmisions but it was just diluted by the air injected into the exhaust was n't it? And as for those of us that promptly ditched the pav and hottube...

I just watched it back again on Quest and it looked like he was using the improved clutch from our hosts that goes with the belt drive kit. This is available with dry running plates so I think he had done his homework.
