Possibly unique red tank badges?

I bid on a couple of tank badges for Kevin, as they matched his paintwork, being chrome red and gold. I tried to do some research to see what bike they had come from, but google images failed to turn up anything at all, (Except the auction picture!).

They have been sent to the UK and Moo has had a look at them. They are not a repaint as it seems that the red colour is set inside the plastic. Also, if held up to the light, the gold letters light up!

Does anybody have any information about these? should I put them on Kevin, or have I got hold of a one-off that should be kept for posterity and looked after properly?

I finally got around to mounting my Enfield lapel badges the other day. I was quite pleased with the result until... A lumber wagon managed to go through the telephone line, cutting the internet off, and so with no way to post, I decided to look through my enfield badge photos, looking for the red ones above. I counted the lapel badges and found that I was two short, with one being quite old and neat. I had finished mounting them a few days previously, and had got rid of the old packaging, either in the bin or in the log burner.

I nearly wet myself in the panic to get to the bin. Luckily the chimney sweep was due the next day, and so the fires had not been lit, leading to a backlog of paper and cardboard, waiting for the next lighting. With no ceremony, I emptied the contents of the bin onto my bed. There was the packaging, and there was also some cotton wool type wadding. I grabbed it, felt the weight and also two lumps. Thank Goodness. They went into the badge display right there and then.

The two at the bottom, either side of the blue and gold one. I think the left one might be fifties.

If it wasn't for the chimney sweep and the internet going off, I might not have realised for some time, and might possibly have lost my badges. Some are old, some are new, but I have got quite attached to them!

Your out of date, possibly Microsoft browser does not support the audio element.

Scaley, I've seen those badges once before on a 350 Clipper (cheap version of the Bullet) but whether they are correct I'm not sure (I think they might be,) so I reckon they're rare. Your call! I like your badge display, I have the one in the top left but in a pale blue, very unusual! (Message to follow.)

Thanks for your recollection Mark! They should be here in 3-4 days.

My plan is to examine them very closely, and if sound (they look it), then very carefully put them on Kevin as I assume they are the same size as the usual ones, just finger tight for a few photos, and then probably swap back.

I will be careful not to damage them. Then what? I wouldn't want to hog them, but we haven't got a RE museum as far as I know, the REOC do paperwork, but I have no idea if they keep artifacts?

If genuine RE, then they could be a pattern for a second colour scheme for tank badges even!

I will post pics when they get here.
