As this morning was bright, dry and even dare I say a bit warm, I had a lovely jaunt through the A and B roads to see Wadebridge. The 500 even started first prod of the kickstart so keen she was.


Now I have the windscreen set up correctly it is stable at speeds high enough to keep up with all but the fastest traffic, although I have to tuck in somewhat as although Im only 5ft 10 the wind blast aims right on my goggles. I do prefer pottering at 50 though and enjoying the scenery where I'm not holding up traffic.

Nice one Midge, sincerely glad you had a decent run out, thats a lovely part of thr country, hope you get some more decent days....no such luck here in damp, cold, gloomy (for over a week!) North Wales, will have to wait until March it seems!

I love Wadebridge in Cornwall, I've cycled the path from Padstow to Bodmin a few times and have indeed enjoyed an oggie or two, however the Wadebridge I visited on this occasion was this one





It was found in Ropley on the Watercress Line in Hampshire!

Hi Matey----that there steamy thing is what's known in the trade as a "Spam Can" for obvious reasons. In their earlier days they had a habit of catching fire !!!------ I kid you not, it's true. The centre cylinder valve gear is chain driven and encased in an oil bath. Sealing materials were not 100% in those days and oil would be flung up under that top casing, eventally catching fire. At the next station the local firebrigade was trying to put one fire out whilst the engine's fireman was trying to kep his going !!
