Do all you members of this forum belong to the REOC? is it worth the 18 quid and what are the benefits? apart from a monthly mag.

Well yes, I am RoSy, but as secretary of our local branch I feel I have to be, though REOC membership is not a prerequisite to attend a branch meeting.
The REOC does an excellent job of keeping records of RE machines; both Redditch and Indian models. It also organises rallies in conjunction with various branches.
As for the magazine, The Gun, I'm afraid I personally think it's a waste of paper and the REOC would do better publishing something on the net in this day and age. As the magazine must account for a large percentage of the subs, these could be reduced quite a lot if it was dispensed with.
On the other hand I know people who look forward to getting so it's probably me out of step again (it usually is)
I think this forum is by far the most useful RE resource and long may it continue - thanks Mr H.

I was a member, and thoroughly enjoyed rides out with the Wiltshire group. Since moving to Co. Durham I've let my membership lapse, and am reluctant to stump up eighteen quid for, in the main, a not particularly scintilating magazine. I suppose the answer would be join the club, help make the mag better and, as Pete F suggests, get it on t'internet and push for a reduction in subs to say twelve quid. Sorry, but every penny counts on the pension.

I sent them a poem once, and it duly appeared ont he front cover, but minus the last six verses.

It changed the meaning, and I was a little 'disappointed'.

I do look forward to the magazine, but maybe if we sent in more stuff, it could be made better.

Yes I'm a member 10899. The magazine I find interesting. Its already available on-line on the main REOC web site in the members section including all of back issues to issue one. Maybe they could make a reduction for those members that don't want a paper copy and you could just view it on-line or download it.

P/s I've just looked at the overseas membership form and they already do a discount for paper free members on renewal from £22 with printed magazine reduced to £15 for paper free on-line copy's only. Ordinary renewal Not overseas is only £15.
