Hi all
I have damaged my instrument cluster on my lightning in a low speed accident. I am hoping that someone may have a set for sale as I would like to keep the bike as original as possible.
Cheers heaps
Warwick

Hi Waz

I think these are the same as fitted to the Watsonian-Squire - modified Electra-XS and -XR (mine's an XS). A while ago I had problems with my revcounter and W-S had limited spares available at reasonable prices. Not sure if still available???

Alternatively, try one of the Indian vendors on eBay...

Good luck, Stephen

Presumably you've tried our hosts? They seem to have just about everything?! -Chris

Hi Waz. Hope someone can help, as you have no doubt discovered, Lightning parts are not available from our hosts as many parts only fit this model & can only be sourced from India. The instruments fitted by W/Squire were different.
If nothing appears here or on ebay your best bet is to contact Indian dealers/suppliers directly as has been suggested.
I have been trying to obtain the ORIGINAL fit 535 piston/rings (poss Italian manufacture) but am told that in India owners are advised to fit a replacement barrel & downsize to 500cc.
Good luck in your search.
REgards, Mick.

The clocks on the Lightning and the later Thunderbird models (as fitted by Watsonain-Squire to the XR and XS Electra models) are indeed different, the Lightning clocks are very clunky-looking by comparison! Beauty in the eye of the beholder, etc... Watsonian's ceased to be the RE importers a while ago, and our hosts bought up all their stock.

For slightly more exotic Indian Bullet bits try Price Part Motorcycles if our hosts don't have what you need.

Regards,

A.

Yes. I do have a spare Lightning instrument cluster. It's not complete, so I might not have the bits you want. What are you after?

To all. Thank you so much for your assistance. I would ideally like a complete instrument cluster and have contacted our hosts and priceparts. However, beggars cant be chosers so if they do not have any available I would very much like to purchase any parts you have Barry. I damaged the cylindrical covers, aa chrome rim and the actual black face that supports the whole cluster. I also damaged the internals as they made some dreadful noises and stopped working. So Barry, if enquiries are fruitless into an entire cluster I am hoping I may contact you in the future. I love my enfields and particularly my Lightning and am hoping to keep those soviet looking gauges :)

Right. I'm working from memory here, but this is what I have. The two chrome covers: Check. The black plastic outer cover: Check. Undamaged speedo: Check. The tacho is damaged. The one on my Lightning had a 'moment' when I tried to fit the Eureka ignition box and the needle went all the way around and stayed there. I had to remove the glass to put the needle back into the correct position. This is when I acquired the 2nd hand cluster and swopped the tacho. The frame that everything bolts too on the inside is missing. There's even an ignition switch with a key in it.

Thanks so much Barry! They look fine and between the two sets I am sure to create a functioning cluster:) Please email me on [email protected] so I can organise payment and postage.
Thanks again and rock on lightnings!
