And WHAT fell off my bullet today?

wanted to have Tornado in on the action, but I swear he was looking with lothing at the small spluttering, noisy engines.

Possibly in spite, he ejected the same stud that he did this time last year. I could feel the increase in vibration and so took a look when I got back to base and sure enough...

So tomorrow morning, it's a mile trip to the hardware store for a roofing bolt and nut, until the replacement arrives from our hosts.
It's ok, I did exactly the same thing last year, same bike.

Its strange how it always seems to be the same bolt when they start to work loose. A couple of weeks ago I was checking my bike over looking for the reason for a strange rattle, it turns out one of the crankcase bolts had worked loose. Wonder what will work loose or drop off next?

Thanks to David of hitchcocks, for ring me to confirm the correct stud (Imperial) for Tornado.

I won't bother getting the roofing bolt now, as the correct bits should be here tomorrow.

There's going to be a loctite dance with this lot this time!

Would it be possible to use a tab washer as it is close to the edge of the mounting plate

Now that's a point!

so wire it, with a tab washer and some loctite. Will stop short of super glue, but very tempting!

Thank you all for your help and sympathy.

I use Nylocks on all of these studs. In fact, I use Nylocks about everywhere.

This could be a case for a left-hand thread bolt, like air- conditioner pulley bolts in cars. There has to be a way of warning anyone working on the vehicle.
