Hi all.. just thought I'd join and say Hi as I'm now a RE owner.

My other bikes are a 2002 Bonnie T100 and a 2002 Suzuki Burgman 400.. and I've just bought a 2006 4 speed Bullet Classic.. and I love it!

I live in Kirkby in ashfield, Notts.. anyone else local?

I paid £1650 for the bike, with BIG (read silly)screen and rather tasty curved home made aluminium panniers.. I've had to tinker with it a bit to get it running smooth, but its now great. My only fear, as I am (very slowly) recovering from an ankle injury, is that I cant start it. I'm getting the knack, sometimes I can get her going with the left foot!

As I'm an engineer, I DID think of a rather weird way of starting er if my foot plays up..not thought it through yet, but how about a starter motor with a rubber coated drum that site behind the seat and presses onto the rear tyres through a cut out in the mudguard.. put her on main stand, into 4th gear, decompresser in, activate starter and press onto tyre.. get some revs going, dump the decompressor, fire her up and clutch in! may look a bit of a twat, but you never know!

Hi to you too PD etc. Your very welcome and we look forward to hearing about your enfield and any mods you have in mind.

Were a mixed bunch with broad interests and talents with machinery ranging from the 1930's to the modern day..

International advice available on most things enfield, whether you want it or not..

So you have no electric boot on the classic? My advice would be to keep the bike in a good state of tune with the battery plugged into a digital batt conditioner at all times, when not being ridden obviously.. Nothing invites kick back more than a weak spark coupled with a less than meaningful swing..

Another tip gleaned from those with high compression motors is to use the decomp to get over compression stroke in the usual way but then down on the kickstart a little more to in effect leave the piston at the top of the exhaust stroke.. Back up to the top with the kick start and then good swing.. Reason being better momentum, which is still building as you hit the next compression. If it works on 612cc then it might help your ankle a bit.. Anyway keep up with the inventing and we will let you know if your a twat ok.. ;o)
