I might have to fetch an Enfield from the South Uk to the South West a round trip of about 250 miles, So I am wondering if anyone can recommend a reliable pickup/delivery service and of course a reputable one. I have done a Google search but there are loads of them all offering the best rates etc . I am thinking that it may be more cost efficient than hiring a trailer and doing the round trip myself taking in cost of fuel and hire cost. Any thoughts welcome.

You could just hire a van as long as it does not have a high back end take loads of straps cushions etc you will need some help to man handle it in and out, I have moved bikes this way without problems careful tying down and take it easy

Don't EVER EVERuse www.bikemovers.com

They were cheap and fobbed me off with a collection date that never came, all sorts of verbal bollox over 2-3 weeks. I have no idea what was going on, but just don't!

I RECOMMEND Chas Mortimer from Kent. He picked up Thunderbolt, stored him, then transported to France a couple of weeks later, arrived on the agreed date in the morning. Very Recommended!

I don't think he is the cheapest, but then, you want your bike looked after, don't you?

I assume he does uk only, he does do ebay pickups, and i will be using him to bring Thunderbolt back to the UK.

Disclaimer (these seem popular nowadays) I no way do I have any interest in his business, nor do I eat pilchards, grab the neighbours cat's tail, or tip red dye in the tanks in the ladies toilets and wait for the screams.

I used a local guy to me who I've known for a few years he recently collected my bike from Yorkshire and bougth it back to Chepstow for me. He is a courier with a passion for bikes - great guy and highly recommended let me know and I can give you his details. ( very reasonable rates too )

Thanks for your replies, I will not know until the weekend if I have to fetch this bike, but a little input from this forum can give you enough confidence to go ahead, Chas Mortimer I remember him from my early TT days. Thing is I literally have no one to give me a hand so I will probably use the likes of Chas Mortimer.

As Dennis says, Jerry from the RealClassic message board http://www.ikba.co.uk/ has a high reputation and is near London so starts from pick-up if you see what I mean!
