At long last i have taken the plunge and swapped my Yamaha Diversion 600 for a 2009 Enfield EFi Electra. Took the bike out for a test ride yesterday, huge grin on my face when i got back to the dealers, after a bit of negotiating i got what i think is a real good price for my bike £1200,considering i bought if from the same dealer 3 years to the day at £1600 i am more than pleased. The Enfield is ex demo with 2500 on the clock. In the past I've done all the fast modern bikes etc,and lots think i have lost the plot when i said i wanted a Enfield, but i love it,its easy to ride, comfortable, cheap to run. I did think about a more original model, but i don't think i would like all the constant maintenance, plus her indoors would object to me spending to much time fiddling with the bike. I pick it up next week and am already planning a few small customising jobs on it.Roll on for some decent DRY weather for a few ride-outs So expect a few questions in the tech section

Welcome to the clan Denwyn, hope you enjoy your Enfield for many years to come. The technical help on this site is fantastic, I know, I have needed it once or twice. As to losing the plot, there is lots of fun to be had on an Enfield, I still grin when I ride mine and I've had it for three years now. I find asking your mates how much an air filter costs for their Yamahonduki restores your faith in your own sanity pretty quickly. Enjoy your bike, Arch

Hi Denwyn, like you I had "been there, done that, bought the t-shirt" with fast bikes. I swapped my 5 year old Triumph Speed Triple for a new 500 Classic. That was in 2006 and I've still got her, grin factor when riding undiminished in all that time! OK, she has a few quirks and doesn't look quite the same as she did six years ago, but then again, nor do I...hard to explain the Enfield magic, you've just gotta experience it by riding...welcome!
Cheers

hi denwyn welcome to sensible biking riding enfields is most pleasurable and i feel they give good value for money with a classic retro style for half the price of most medium sized engined classic bikes with the efi you should have a reasonable reliable bike all the best paul.
