Colleagues,

I know that we are all immensely grateful to Hitchcock's for providing this forum facility, so I don't want this to come across as a moan or complaint AT ALL.

How do you think we should approach our host about asking for this forum software to b updated? Compared with most modern forums this one is very limited. For instance, we can't edit or delete our posts. Nor can we add any text attributes like bold or italics, or even paragraph breaks, without having to enter HTML code (which is so easy to get wrong).

I'm also a regular user of the US equivalent, and it is SO much easier and more pleasant to use. Take a look:

US forum

Perhaps Hitchcock's might consider using the same software as the US forum. Indeed, I suspect they'd be quite willing to help get it up and running.

As I say, I definitely don't want to upset anyone at Hitchcock's, so any thoughts on how we might raise it politely?

I quite like the fact that the message board is of limited performance and a bit quirky.
Just like our bikes!

I have always liked this Hitchcocks one as it is simple, doesn't contain complicated directions and you can get your point across. Personally I'd leave it as is. This isn't having a go at you, Thack, but maybe you're more interested in computers than me! atb, Chris

Hi, I think it is a good idea, but will cost Hitchcocks quite a lot of money to convert all their sub categories, and most forum based software will struggle to accommodate/live alongside the current website setup.
I am a Moderator at YBW.com which use V Bulletin, very easy to use.

I would welcome the ability to post pics and videos without the arcane layout language.

Thack, I've used the American forum a couple of times and found it not so easy to use as Mr. Hs'. But I do struggle with computers! It would be nice to have paragraph breaks and be able to start a new line when you want to, but not at the expense of simplicity. However, I suppose if enough forum users want something a bit more up to date the rest of us will have to adapt.

and we loose all the old posts, and the usa one still needs [img] and and all that stuff anyway.

AND... I just learnt big text, bold, italics and underline and all at once too!

We're British and can use more complicated stuff, where tha americans can't even spell colour properly. YAY!

That's a point, the USA forum does do paragraphs automatically...

HMMM? Might be good.

Oh, forgot to say: that row of icons beneath the bold, italic, etc let you insert images, links, and stuff.

You gotta admit, it's dead good, no?
