Watch out lads, the scammers are about. I had an email yesterday purporting to be from PayPal asking me to update my card details.Being of a pre-digital age, and a trusting sort of bloke I complied. The missus wasn't too pleased with my naivety and made me contact PayPal who confirmed I was a scam. Had to cancel my debit card. No doubt most of you would be savvy enough not to fall for it.

The PayPal scam email and many others have been around for along time never use the links provided in an email always log in via the official web page if you have been to a dodgy fake web site you may want to virus scan your computer

I get them from time to time and never answer them. If you look at the bad spelling and grammar it's usually quite clear something is not quite right.

Most of the scam sites have no facility to check your details are correct, and will accept anything you enter. Therefore, if you are unsure, enter something other than your correct details along the following lines.

USER: we are closing

PASSWORD: in on you

If the 'site' then accepts your 'details', then it is a sure scam.

Nononono..... dont visit the site at all. Worms called 'trojans' can and will sniff out some of your personal info on both your computer and your online profile. In fact, dont even open the email. Dont enter anything, not even for a dig.

YES, that's certainly good advice, Don't even go there.

I forget sometimes that others may not have the level of protection that my mac has.

P.S. it is also likely that you have not inherited a fortune from Nigeria. (another scam)

Yes, best not to even open the email. If you look at the email address it's usually a dead giveaway.

99.95% of that stuff goes direct to my yahoo spam folder, I empty that box without looking at the contents

If you get E Mail from anyone asking for personal details its good practice never to click on any link in an E Mail that purports to take you to a page remember that clicky could lead anywhere. Always close/delete that mail & enter the web address yourself into your browser or use the one you have on your bookmarks to log into your account never a live link.

P/s Important don't fall into the trap that just because you have a Mac or any other computer your immune your not. Would you give your details to anyone that phoned you up saying there calling from your bank or building sociality and start asking questions NOOooo that's another scam I had this a few weeks ago so just replied to the person I will call in the branch and see them. Yes it was a phone scam claiming my card had been used without my authority. What gave it away is although I have an account with said bank I don't have any credit or debit cards with them. Be careful.
