Hi, Well after a long hard think and a talk to the wife we have decided to spend a bit of money on the old Enfield, well I say a bit but to give you a clue we are planning on putting a 612 kit on it and converting it to our hosts GP style. Now I love the look of their bike but if I could make it a bit different them all the better. All I am asking is if anyone who visits this site has any trick parts they may want to sell please let me know.

Eddie, I built a 570 quite a while back and it performs very well, I think it has done about 25,000ks is ridden daily. It was the longstroke crank with the Hitchcocks +40 high comp piston. I have put a couple of 612's together but I think the 570 was a good balance

Hi. Thanks for that, I am still looking at want I should really get when it comes to it, but I did see that Tollgate Classics in fact do do a 725 kit for the 500 but I think that may be a bit to much.

"Cough-cough" there EDDIE850.......that's one of our hosts competitors for "parts sales" that you've just advertised on here...( unintentionally, I'm sure)...Maybe "An Enfield dealer near Stoke-on-Trent" or similar might be more appropriate ??....Don't want Uncle Alan blowing a gasket, specially at he holds a bus pass !!

Hi. No my comment was not done on purpose and not to advertise a competitor, I was meaning that I think the 725 increase was just to big and must compromise on reliability. Sorry if any offense was taken.

Hello Eddie---- no offence taken..Mr H is a "broad church" I'm sure--------- just a bit of forum etiquette, that was all.........I take your point, 725cc does seem a lot unless you go the whole hog and use all the upgraded bearings, oil pump etc....

I can see no reason not to mention Tollgate. This board is a piece of enlightened self-interest by Hitchcock's. I am sure it helps stimulate interest in customizing and maintaining Enfields, and I don't think we should be too bashful about mentioning other outfits. Always been quite curious about the 750 myself; indeed it does sound "a bit much"!

Are they still going? Only their website has not been updated since 2009-2010?

725cc on an engine that was originally designed as 350cc?
I can never understand this. Surely you would need to an awful lot of extra modification on the engine (not to mention brakes, handling etc) to make it work properly.

I know I will be sticking with our hosts 612cc kit and I'm going for the GP kit to fully cafe race it. The only problem is I can't afford to do it all at once, still will be fun doing it bit by bit.
