This was from a thread on the USA forum about the rubber fin dampers on the EFI engines.They had sussed about the ringing sound as there reason for existence, but I just had an insane 'enfield' type smile on my face after reading this quote (red) and reply (blue), which was someway down the thread!
"A lot of people have removed the dampers and I have yet to hear one of them say they heard an annoying sound of any kind.
Well, except for the normal clicks and ticks these engines always make that is."
