Hi.
I am quite new to the world of Royal Enfield, in fact I got mine in November of last year. I have a number of other bikes including Guzzi's Ducati's Laverda's and MZ's but for some reason I have as much fun on the Enfield which is a 500 bullet as I do on the others. I know it is not as fast as some of the others but it handles very well and it still to put a smile on my face. Why is this?
I am also thinking of getting one of our hoists performance kits that retail at around £2300 has anyone got any experience of these and what are they like.
Thanks Eddie.

Same here eddie and I have had mz, guzzi and numerous others as well. Had my 350 for nearly 8 years now which is the longest I have ever kept a bike. Fun to ride, reliable (well mine is), easy to work on, handles and our hosts add to the experience. I also feel an Indian model suits me in that I have no desire to join other biking tribes, the rivet counters, the sons of anarchy, the knee sliders and the stormtroopers and I certainly don't want anything that needs to be plugged into a computer. I just like to plod around in jeans and a t-shirt. Yup, the enfield suits just fine.

I as getting one of my bikes motd today, and Enfields came into the conversation. The shop has sold 5 of the cafe racers in the last 2 weeks to people who couldn't afford them when they were young. I came to the conclusion that it takes me back to happier times when I first started riding. I have done more miles on my Enfield than I have on the other bikes.

I particularly like the Bullet because it is a bike in the classic mould that you don't have to mollycoddle or protect from the world because of its age or rarity. A tractable easy starting economical bike that you can tweak to your hearts content without guilt for a very reasonable price. Also of course the availability of an excellent range of parts from our excellent hosts.

I like my both my Bullets because there reasonably easy to fix when broken and parts are easy available with quick service from this site. Might not be the fastest bikes but it always gives me a big grin when out riding.

Eddie, I think you have given a good reason not to spend all that cash on a performance kit. Take one of your other bikes for some faster fun. I too have a Guzzi in the garage, a 2008 Stelvio, and have had many MZ's plus Jap bikes. Like you a nice gentle(ish) run on my 2003 Bullet Sixty5 puts a smile on my face, especially since I sorted the jetting.

I've had all sorts of bikes over the last 40+ years , mostly Japs from 70s - present and an MZ a couple of Guzzis and still own a few others but I keep using my Enfield ( now the EFI Bullet)because it can potter or keep up with traffic ,there's little risk to my licence and it just feels right (most of the time)!
