Only went for a ride!

My young Woodsman wouldn't listen to me.

A lovely day today was on the French Swiss border.

I have no other engagements (on purpose!) so I can take 'Thunderbolt' my woodsman out for a ride. More like Thunderbolt wanted to take me for a ride!

Got as far as the main road and wanted to turn right, but no! Thunderbolt manages to insert a 'left turn' thought into my indicator thumb.

Same as last year it seemed. Then; I only went out for some brake fluid; but came across a huge Harley-Davidson meeting which was great. This year, I turn left, get to Pontarlier and hear a bloody great roaring engine. I glance into the field to my left, and that; so they say; was that, (well, after a roundabout and a couple of turns.

I don't even know what the event was, but it was well organised. Entry was free, and due I guess to the usual good french 'moto' guys planning, as you entered, you were offered a small but useful rectangle of wood for your sidestand. the field seemed dry, smooth and hard enough, but I accepted two bits of wood, as Thunderbolt looks better on the centre stand.

I had followed a Norton 850 commando in, and we parked next to each other, Then just to add a little polish to the "English Quarter", a Triumph Thruxton decided to join us.

Royal Enfields are a really rare sight in this part of France. The norton and Triumph got a few glances, but as usual, Thunderbolt drew a continual audience. Only RE there which starts to get a bit old, would love to meet another.

Bloody nice afternoon all the same!

I'm not commenting on rider or machine other than to say it said Peugeot on the tank.

You can safely leave your tin lid on your bike. French bikers seem a pretty honest lot, (see later)

This was a new one on me!

This one just caught my eye.

Guess WHO gets all the attention.

Oh, yes, more on the bikers honesty. Came back after several hours to find I had left the keys in the ignition. Never done that before, but got distracted by the Norton and Triumph.

So a somewhat lonely Woodsman found himself some company and took me along for the ride!
