Hi guys--------------------- thought I'd share this little encounter with you, just to show it's not only our old RE's that have "Designer-created" problems...........It's my 1980 Triumph Tiger 750 TR7 ( The now sought-after single carb Bonneville).. but with the L/H gear change ( This bike originally was exported direct to Denmark and still has their importers/dealers sticker on the rear mudguard.).........I need to fit a new 3-phase stator and rotor and to do that the primary chaincase must come off..FIRST, clean off all the final drive chain muck, grease etc..Next, the L/H side of the twin exhaust pipe needs removing, along with the silencer, then the L/H footrest..............BUT, this is secured by a bolt fitted from INSIDE the mainframe and obscured by the final drive chain...So the chain is split and allowed to come just clear of the bolt head...A 19mm 1/2" drive socket along with ratchet and extension tube are used to free the bolt ( Which has been Loctited - Sensible idea !!) and the footrest can now be removed !!..............And so now all I have to do is remove the primary case and get on with the job ( OR IS IT ??)...........

Alan - Why do you need to fit a new alt. stator and rotor ? And why is your posting sooooooo W--------I-------D-------E ? I've removed the primary cover from my 1979 Triumph T140 (the now sought-after twin carb. Tiger - LOL) but didn't have to remove exhaust pipe or chain. Strange......
