Cable go 'snap' (was Hollyville cafe meet)

The Breakfast at the Hollyville cafe was quite a surprise. Tornado did well carrying me with Moo on the back! The journey there was along quiet roads, the sun was out and it was totally pleasant.

I had expected (Hoped) that the rumoured venue of British bikes would hold true but my expectations were well short of reality. Still approaching the location, I could see chrome and every paint colour under the sun, so the cafe had to be behind that lot somewhere.

Good job we were early too, (10:15) as there was a short queue for food. Breakfast was very nice but lacked the 'grease dripping down my shirt'!

Tornado was the best looking RE there! (Tornado was the only RE there, so no brownie marks for you lot!!) Even Chris, the RE dealer decided to turn up on a harley-davidson.

There are no pictures of the food as my breakfast disappeared with the speed and enthusiasm that gave birth to a new word... 'Gollop'

Here are a few photos of an extremely pleasant Sunday morning that quite echoed the 1950's-60's.

Here, two Triumphs seem to be deep in discussion about something.

You can't teach an old bike new tricks, as Tornado seeks out the most camouflaged spot under the trees.

A modern Japanese bike slowed down and looked like it wanted to join us, but it's owner was seen shooing it on towards the 'power rangers' bike cafe (Oakdene) further down the road.

This is the joy of the area. Brands Hatch is a quarter of a mile up the road, whilst the 'toy' and modern bikes go to the Oakdene, so that the Hollyville takes on the air of a real sixties cafe! All in all, very authentic!

Having left the Hollyviile, we take a short trip to Eynsford, and spent some time relaxing.

There are convenient jacket and helmet stands underneath the trees by the river!

You always think "It will never happen to me!" But after advice from this forum, I always carry spare clutch and throttle cables. This is the day that your wise words paid dividends, as the cable went on the way home, as Moo and myself learnt a little more about my bike.

All in all; the best Sunday morning for many years!

...used to race regularly at Brands back in the early 70's on Ducati and Aermacchi singles. If it had been a hot day several club members (Bemsee & southern 67) would often stop off at Eynsford in the evening on the way home. There is a lane that turns of the main road and passes a lake/pond which used to be absolutely perfect for a swim, followed by sossies cooked on a small fire and cans of beer. Happy days!:) No doubt nowadays some interfering busy body would be fussing about spouting health and safety and calling for the plods to come and spoil things.
