Out of interest, how many people here have actually purchased a new Continental GT from Royal Enfield?

Well, I bought one for starters! and I will say that judging by the amount of kit we are selling for that model - there's loads of us who have bought as well, and I say that I love mine and ride it to work as often as I can. - Wayne C/O Hitchcocks.

Hi WAYNE---------- must be a wonderful feeling in the morning knowing you are riding TOWARDS perhaps the biggest collection of Enfield spares in the world ??...........In its' present "Cafe' Racer" form with that single cylinder engine then it's not a bike for me...I have 2 Iron barrelled Classic 500 machines which do the job required at the moment....When the "much-denied" twin arrives then we'll see.........

Wayne starts the bike superbly on utube - it sounds great. My new Woodsman has suffered a sprag failure, a neutral sensor failure, a battery failure and then yesterday, a split in the petrol tank. A new black n chrome tank is being airfreighted from Chennai. After all that I looked at the GT on u tube and the Hitchcocks site, and am thinking. I test rode one last year but found the performance treacly - with a few mods and shorter bars it could be a buy, no question, it is a better build quality than any other EFI - apart from the hideous stock exhaust.

Our local dealer had three of them when I went to visit a few months ago. Very nice looking and already sold.
He told me he has sold a few more since, and is very happy!
Not so much 'going... going...' as 'gone bloody fast'!

My wife and I have one. Had it about 2 weeks. My dealer in Oregon has sold and delivered 7. He has 2 on the floor. 4 for delivery in June and 11 more enroute before July. They are doing well here in Oregon.

Just seen the new s/s front pipe on our hosts 535GT parts page >
Quote >
STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST PIPE
A polished stainless steel exhaust pipe made in England by Motad. It is freer flowing than the standard pipe and less than half the weight. It will fit with the standard silencer, factory sports or our own sports silencers and is covered by a manufacturers guarantee of 10 years. As characteristic with most stainless pipes it will discolour fairly quickly.
EXHAUST PIPE, 535 CONTINENTAL GT, **Stainless** UK made by Motad £100.00.Un-Quote.
I would like to disagree with the line about s/s pipes discolouring, they only discolour if the s/steel is poor thin grade quality..i have had many good quality straight through/open s/s pipes & cans on many of my bikes & Non have discoloured at all, I have to say though non of them were made by Motad.

I have had my GT for about 6 months and love it - Gives me a big smile every time I ride it.
Regarding the stainless pipes a big single like this is going to generate a lot of noise and heat and transfer this to the exhaust specially being a "leanburn" model. I guess this is the reason why Enfields use a double skinned pipe originally. I have had some stainless systems on some other models, A BSA Goldstar for one, and had this pipe made as a one off by a very reputable manufacturer using a fairly thick wall and even though the carburetter was turned correctly this discolored very quickly.
