It seems they are changing the payment system at the Dartford Crossing. They are doing away with cash payments (motorcycles are not charged), so there will be no attended positions, which affects us, see below. The new system will be a non stop flow with no barriers.

Dartford Crossing Changes
Just sent an email to the Highways Agency, asking how this will affect Motorcycles.
Dear Sir,
r.e. Dartford Crossing
Currently, The rules are; that motorcycles stop at manned barriers, and the attendant then opens the barrier.
What will be the procedure for a motorcycle to use the Crossing, after the introduction of the Remote Payment Scheme (I am assuming that there will be no attended barriers)?
Thank you,
(me)
I will pop the reply in when it comes!

Come to think of it, the Humber Bridge is doing something similar, though you will still have the option of cash (for now) Bikes are free here also but need to stop at the barrier as at Dartford.

Does the number plate recognition system "read" the old style plates as per a Classic Vehicle ??

All this number plate registration technology sounds fun. How would it cope with the following plate (would be neat on my bullet)?
