Ok Bertie I'll start the ball rolling, why do manufacturers make bikes like your Honda look so bizare, is there any particular reason why they go out of their way to make them look nothing like a motor bike apart from the fact it has 2 wheels. Not knocking it but I am unable to see why these shapes attract people but obviously they do because manufacturers would stop making them quickly if people didn't buy them. This should get some replies going for your topic

Sorry Norm, you are just out of date. But so am I.

Are you kidding me?
we are
all out of date... That's why we are here with our bullets connies and meteors, etc.
and that is why I am here. My mate suggested a KTM, but I was not fond of the looks so what do I end up with??? A Bullet! Well, two bullets now!
I can't answer if it is the age of the bike, or the way it looks, or the engineering, but certainly with Tornado, my old bullet, It's the constant trying to persuade him that I deserve to ride it. Just a moments lapse of concentration, and I find a whole new neutral position! Tornado puts up with me, but only just!

I don't go against design improvements just because I'm old, we all know why the Jappers are wrapped in plastic so they can build whatever they like underneath then just wrap it up and it all looks good, but for the life of me I cannot understand the purpose of that bodywork and those pointy noses, just looks silly to me

My missus would only let me buy Thumper because he looked like 'a real motorbike' and not, as she put it, 'a zig-zag on wheels'. I'm a bit with Norm on this one. All that plastic pointy stealth stuff just cheapens the view... That 400N looks OK though.. a bit like the old CB's.

Here's a tip for Bertie...
When you'v finished writing, and before you add the code for your pictures, type
That will separate you text from your pictures. Makes the whole thing more readable and tidy..

I've never really taken to any bikes with alloy wheels. I know spoked ones are difficult to clean and keep tidy but imo they just look right.

This is just an ugly era IMHO. Like the change from the 1920's to the 1930's for cars and early to late 50's for bikes. The addition of stylised fairing I feel is generally a retrograde step as really beautiful design is the arrangement of essential parts in a pleasing fashion not bits of unnecessary bling tacked on to cover ugly bits.
