I recently posted the GT madness title and even though it got well over over 100 hits I noticed that not one person replied to my questions, so I have looked at other posts and this seems to be getting a common trend, lots of hits with nothing to say, lots of posts are not receiving hardly any if any replies at all. While we cannot expect everyone to bung their opinion on every post, if every post got at least a few replies it would make for a much more interesting read, I admit that of late I have been as guilty as anyone as I haven't even looked at this forum for a while, but when I do look I do try and answer anything I can. Another bike related forum I use has many posts that remain current for months on end as users add more and more comments, have debates and sometimes argue over opinions and it makes for very interesting reading. Without input forums die, so come on get typing and put in your pennies worth.

I think it's cyclical, not that this is particularly good news! My interests are in Redditch Enfields, especially Twins, but I always try and assist anyone I can if I've got something to say! I do despair at the "One post wonders" though, who come on with some really tricky open ended question with virtually no supporting background though. You can sort of tell you'll never get either thanks or an outcome, which is really what we all need to build our knowledge base. So that's it: post interesting and post grateful (or not!) post social and post bitter experience, but do post! And I do like Bertie's tales, by the way!

I noticed that sometimes when I post a new topic it very soon goes down a page or two from the opening one. I tend to only look at the first page and assume that I have seen and read the other ones before - but I am starting to wonder if this forum orders posts a little differently to some others? I know that some order things date and time wise, whilst others give priority to ones gaining greater responses or indeed "hits". Perhaps this is why some appear to be ignored? I do wonder if sometimes a useful hint or tip is soon lost in the history - but your point about "hits" suggests that they are not posted in vain! Technical questions do seem to illicit a rapid reply if they are specific though.

I'm not sure about this, but when I come here to read through the posts I do it to gain information as well as share. However, if I can't offer an opinion or help, through my lack of knowledge, then I don't reply.

Maybe others feel the same?

Hi all, thanks for replying, in my example no technical knowledge was required, just an opinion, things like " white walls look fantastic on my Harley but rubbish and pointless on my farm quad" ect ect. It could have got a possible 100 odd opinions, on other forums very often the subject goes right off track over the course of time but is none the less interesting.

Hi BERTIE---------- Co-incidentally without having first read your posting, I have been thinking recently that the forum seems a little sparse on content, with many an old chestnut being re-asked again by newcomers ( "Cyclic" as MARK M calls it).............Didn't GWILLY actually answer your question then ??.... Having seen your good bike on here not so long back I would hope you keep him "Just as he is" with maybe the white lettering on the tyres as a highlighter ?.........Personally I don't like the "Bobber" look, especially when a classic, old power plant is used ( Waste of a potential re-build to original specs..)........If you really want a change to his look AND improve practicality/userbillity then how about adding a tow-bar with a small trailer ??-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
