how many bikes is too many i now have 3 bikes and a combination am i being greedy or should i part company with one?if i were to part company with one it would have to be the ultra fast and reliable 500 electra as i dont need it as my winter steed as the combi has took up that role,although ive just bought a new disc and pads ,i think i might strip it down and break it as i could possibly recoup the money spent in bits i could use the disc brake forks on my diesel,so that could be the way to go ive not done a massive ebay sale since i made £450 selling a c15 engine in very small parts 3 years ago,so if you see a frame & logbook on ebay its not a ringing kit!!might also fit the 5 speed in my diesel anybody think i,m right to break it or does anybody want to buy it £1500 would buy it but not a penny less happy days paul

Hi Paul, we have been having similar discussions out here with my Crossbred and a mates Electra. Electras are going to be hard to get parts for before too long, not made for long enough and not a lot made so barrels/heads and the other Electra only parts are going start costing bigger money for anybody trying to keep one going or they will end up stuck in the corner of the shed to gather dust. At least with my crossbred it now uses a standard Bullet conrod and RE13 roller, barrel and head, only Electra specific parts still there drive/timing shaft,rotor/stator(not sure if the UCE ones will fit) pump spindle and pumps so if it needs rebuilding it is a fairly straight forward job

You have too many when:

For some, one is too many, for others 10 can be OK. For me, the garage is just too small..... Regards, Anders F. R.

I agree with Anders here, I need a bigger garage, thankfully mine are mostly classics and I don't need to pay tax or MOT them, when I'm not using them they don't eat or drink anything.

Which to sell?, can't decide, best keep them all for now, they all get used fairly regularly and variety is the spice of life apparently.

I have a rather interesting physiological limit. I have an insurance policy which allows for up to four bikes. being a Yorkshireman I get full value out of the policy by always having four bikes but no more, as this would require an additional policy. For the southerners, who might not realise, a Yorkshireman is a bit like a Scotsman but with the generosity removed

I used to have three bikes but now only two. However the one I sold was a scooter - Suzuki Bergman 650 - so maybe it didn't count. Now I'd like to buy a Moto Guzzi and will spend the winter dreaming, browsing, kicking tyres, and perusing e.bay, all of which is almost as much fun as owning the bike I reckon! Tony.

for many years we have had just two - the Infamous Enfield (1992 500 Bullet) and the Flash (1952) & a Box (built & fitted 2005). They tick all the boxes for us .. Maybe sometime I might like a lightweight something or other then maybe not

A couple of years ago I decided to get rid of all the clutter in my life. Over time an 80's Yamaha 750, an old Landrover and a transit camper all got sold on. Car for the wife and my 350 bullet are all that remain. I have more money and more time to just ride. We are all different but for me its about simplicity and needing to work less. Some could argue a sidecar might be useful in the winter. I would say, pour a drink and sit by the fire.
