Hi guys---------- work on the No2 Bullet continues (This is the re-build into a "Might have been" 1950's Suez Canal period Enfield Bullet,Army Despatch Riders bike)..... Where can I get information about and ---- more importantly ---- the transfers or stickers for the regimental markings on the fuel tank ??............... My real problem is that I'm an Ex-Navy bloke still trying to get to grips with the concept of squads, platoons, regiments, etc .... even though I did my final 15 years of employment at the ABRO establishment here in Donnington, Telford... (notice I didn't say "Worked here" ?----- There's over 500 years of Civil Service "Traditions" to be maintained, you know ??)..........

This had better format ok and not lose the text at the beginning.

I guess you would be looking for around 1951-54, the time of the emergency.

Dispatch riders were 40 CoY RASC

more info http://britains-smallwars.com/Canal/Myservice.htm

and http://www.britains-smallwars.com/Canal/RASCcolumn.html

You could also try asking cecil ‘vic’ goodhead who popped up on

http://www.suezcanalzone.com/wherenow.html

He wanted to contact any of the Despatch riders in SDS troop, so I guess he may be good to ask about the bikes!

found a couple of pics, but although the age is correct, they are older bikes, and have the earlier late 40’s numbering system on the tank!

these are very small pics, from seuz, 51-54, just for an idea

Arm of service markings (there are also Formation markings but these were not used on motorcycles)

seems there was the RAOC as well as the RASC, looking at the pics.

Arm of service markings are approx. 9 1/2 inches high X 8 1/2 inches wide.

They are positioned on each forward end of the fuel tank.

RAOC vertical stripes, blue, red, blue

Seems either the colours changed or somebody got it very wrong some time ago.

the RASC for 1952 should be yellow/blue diagonal.

Here is something official!

I do not know the names of the colours used, but they should be to BC 381C.

YE GODS !!!--------- This is "Corporation Bus" stuff ie}--Nothing for ages then 3 arrive at once !! Many thanks indeed ex-military mate, that's just the sort of info I needed.......... As far as I'm aware the Royal Enfield Bullet wasn't actually used by the MoD at that time so this will be a "Might have been" look-a-like effort.....Still, a bit of fun to do and a point of discussions at local bike shows etc...........The project itself has been underway for some time now but here is the first painted item, and a some of the local lads on a Sunday ride-out !! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Image ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Image
