First real run out on the G. Last week was a quick few miles to check it out. Sunday was 96 miles around the Lancashire countryside. The bike performed perfectly, besides the brakes, which are dreadful. Hitchcocks must supply better shoes.
Met three other Enfield riders, two on Indian models and one on a mid 60’s bullet with a diesel engine installed. Why? I didn’t ask.
There are a few drips but I’ll sort that out. More bath sealer needed on the chain case seal.
It’s not a race horse but I didn’t expect it to be, plus with those brakes (or lack of them) I wouldn’t want it to be. It is what it is a solid plodder and I really like it.
Picture below taken outside the Hop Vine pub Burscough, It has it’s own I house brewery and produces some fantastic beers. The two bikes accompanying me are a 1955 250cc Adler and a 1967 C200 Honda 90cc. You can’t accuse any of us of being cc snobs, just as much fun can be had on small slow bikes as can on big fast bikes (we do all have bigger faster bikes though). The G was faster than the Honda and I’m running in. RESULT!

Hello again! .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- Bathroom sealant should not be necessary on the primary chain case. Mine hasn't leaked one single drop here in 11 years. Get a new rubber gasket, part no. 26696, and make shure the mating surfaces are clean and not distorted. The only thing holding that chain case in place is the foot rest nut, but that's good enough if done properly!

One of the things is that you can ride the bike like it's meant to, use all of the power (and maybe even the top speed) without breaking any speed limit or anything in 2,3 seconds. You can feel how the engine is working, and you must learn how to use that little advance/retard lever together with the throttle, making motorcycling more into an art form than just getting from A to B. It is really more to that one than "starting at "low" ignition, running at "high" ignition" (which really should be named "late" and "early"). .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- Regards, Anders F. R.
