Hi Alan,
I Seem to remember reading a big spread in one of the U.K mags - quite possibly 'Classic Bike' - a year or so back about Norman Hyde and his lifelong link with Triumph bikes, 'bits' and kits in one way or another. One of the accompanying photographs showed him standing at the entrance to his company where you could also just see to his side, part of a large impressive wooden entrance door[s]. It had also 'graced' the old Triumph factory, possibly as a 'white collar'/visitors entrance.
As far as the old factory entrance gates went, I sure that the article mentioned him saying that he also had/was using the old factory gates to his works. Apparently these also had the original lights of some sort mounted on them but surprise, surprise, they had been recently vandalised so he had them removed.
Hope that this helps, R.

Last year I went for a nostalgic weekend to Meriden in the camper, hadn't been there for years. Very sad and disappointed, a small lump of indiscriminate stone with an inscription, not very inspiring or imaginative, all that history connected to the site. Glad I only travelled from Buckinghamshire and not the other side of the world.....and it rained!
