Let me let you into a secret

Hi guys. I haven't been posting on here for long but thought I'd confide a special biking secret to all Royal Enfield riders.

 This is it.

The little known, seldom visited and totally ignored East Riding of Yorkshire is an absolute biker's paradise! The East Yorkshire Wolds have always been the poor relation to the far more popular North Riding Moors and the West Riding Pennines (or Dales), but book a weekend in the Pocklington area (I've no vested interest) and just amble around the quiet lanes on your Enfield and you'll be in heaven!

Just keep away from the A1079 Hull to York trunk road.

Trust me - try it, you WILL like it. If you do buy me a pint - if you don't I'll buy you one!

Contact me for some suggested runs if you like and I'll give you some ideas.

That's it then! The secrets out!

There'll be bloody Enfields cluttering up the lanes and stopping on blind corners to take pictures of one of one of the last unspoilt rural landscapes in Britain.

You won't be able to move at the Log Cabin at Fimber which used to be a delightful little bikers tea stop and the queue will be half an hour long.

The local REOC branch (http://www.reochumber.co.uk/) will have to find somewhere else to organise runs.

The local Enfield dealer (http://www.rmmotorcyclesbeverley.co.uk/) won't be able to fit me in for an MOT 'cos he'll be too busy mending the tourist's bikes.

On the other hand, I suppose we might find room for a few more.

Totally agree Riggers, just came back that way after a weekend with the kids in Whitby. Lovely rolling chalk hills, hedges, twisty roads and a more cheerfull feel than the rather sombre Pennines.

Not much of a secret anymore - not since David Hockney's latest much vaunted mega exhibition of East Yorkshire landscapes in Lunnon Town.

Last time I was over there, we pulled into a pub for lunch to find 5 Vincents parked up.  Now that's what I call scenery!

Stephen I'm from the dour West Yorks as well. Are you aware of our West Riding branch?

Another underated county is South Yorkshire. Since going on a few runs down there I've been really suprised how stunning the scenery is.
