Just to say hello to this noble collection of fellow enthusiasts. It's been 35 years since I last rode a motor cycle and with early retirement staring me in the face, I bought a 500cc Bullet to occupy my time. I got it cheap. It was new in 2005 and has stood unused for the last almost 8 years. The original owner bought it as a last fling at life. He was dying of cancer. He managed to put 1750 Km's on the odometer before he got too sick to ride it. It isn't even run in yet. I cleaned 8 years of dust and neglect off, oiled and greased everything and it runs reasonably well.
I hope to gather good information and useful tips here. From what I've seen so far, I think I'm in the right place.

Lovely looking bike! Are those actual pics of the bike or catalogue pics of the particular model? Either way I'm sure she'll give you hours and hours of pleasure (maybe not all of them riding 'cos these little phutt phutt machines do need a lot of TLC but pleasure just the same). Welcome to the forum!

That IS my Bullet.. not catalogue pictures.. but well taken by a professional photographer friend in a tent! Like I said, brand new really, just 8 years old and never been really ridden.
I've had to buy a new battery for it and replace the breather tube (the rubber had perished to crumbs!). After that, just elbow grease and 20/50 oil..

Might be worth getting some decent tyres put on before riding very far.. you may find the rubber has hardened and not even round after standing in one place ... gwilly
