Hi Paul, I hear that congratulations are in order! I was very interested in your endeavour and if it wasn't for another "speed" event (namely a constabulary-arranged Speed Awareness Course!) that I had to attend that Sunday, I would have certainly been there at Pendine! (Got busted for doing 36mph in a 30 limit in the car - ugh!). I'm sure there are others on here who would like to know how you got on. By the way, will you be running at Aberdare this year? Regards, Barry.

Hi Barry, thanks for that! It all started off looking like it might not happen, due to terrible weather and our lack of chainguards on the bikes [not needed for the usual racing] So, we turned ourselves into 'Wombles' for a bit and finally found some bits of plastic roadworks barrier to cut into shape and make one chainguard to fit both machines and this was accepted. The weather improved on Saturday [a bit] and the 350 did quite a few runs, finishing off with 90 mph on the first day. We popped home that evening, to make an old Triumph chainguard fit the 500, so both machines could queue for a turn on the Sunday. Both machines finished up with 95.76 mph [350] and 110.51 mph [500]. a 1000cc JAP engine Featherbed machine managed 110 mph and a very nice 500 alloy pre-unit Triumph did 97 mph. Some big 4 cylinder Japanese machines made the mid 120's, so we're pretty happy with what we got!
Regards,
Paul.

The links to the above photos will work if you copy only the portion from "http" to "html" (without the brackets). Looks like a blustery day there! I think the speeds are very good considering the drag I would assume from the sand? It would be interesting to see what your 500 would do with high gearing on tarmac Paul! I noticed a Matchless G2 CSR (250) in the photos. My first road bike was a G2 - a very long time ago!
